Treks

Ladakh provides many different opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. We can organise treks to suit your interests and requirements. Whether it's wildlife, scenery or monasteries, let us know what you want to see and we'll explain the different possibilities to you. All of our treks are homestay treks.

Below is a selection of treks lasting from 2 to 14 days and rated from easy to challenging:

Sham Region

Sham Trek (easy/moderate)
Likir to Ang and Temisgang. This is a good introduction to trekking in Ladakh, passing through small villages and crossing low passes. All year round.

New Sham Route (easy)
A gentler, less-crowded version of the Sham trek. All year round.

Sham Extended (moderate)
Adds extra villages to the classic Sham route. All year round.

Markha Valley

Markha Valley Trek (moderate/challenging)
Spituk to Hemis via the Markha Valley. Ladakh's most famous trek with spectacular views and varied landscapes. Mid-June to September.

Short Markha Trek (moderate)
A shorter version of the Markha Valley trek, ideal for those with limited time. Mid-June to September.

Other Treks

Spituk to Stok (easy/moderate)
A short trek from Spituk to Stok village. Perfect for acclimatisation. May to October.

Rizong to Temisgang (easy)
A scenic 2-day route through monastic valleys. All year round.

Snow Leopard Trail (challenging)
A winter trek in Hemis National Park, combining trekking and wildlife tracking. December to March.

Kanji to Rangdum (challenging)
A remote trek through the Zanskar region. July to September.

Zanskar Traverse (challenging)
An adventurous long trek across rugged terrain. July to September.

Chadar Trek (very challenging)
The famous frozen river trek along the Zanskar River. Mid-January to mid-February.
